The race to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup is heating up, with a joint bid from the US and Mexico promising a massive USD 3 billion in revenue. This hefty sum dwarfs the projected revenue of both the Brazil and the joint Germany-Netherlands-Belgium bids.

The US-Mexico bid boasts the potential for 4.5 million attendees and leverages the infrastructure already in place for the 2026 men’s World Cup, which the two countries will co-host with Canada. This promises significant cost savings and logistical efficiency.

Cindy Parlow Cone, US Soccer President, sees this as the perfect opportunity to showcase women’s soccer and inspire future generations: “This will send a message to young players around the world that there is no limit to what they can achieve.”

Europe, on the other hand, proposes ticket prices ranging from USD 21 to USD 133 and hospitality seats costing between USD 160 and USD 640. Their stadiums are located across Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, excluding major cities like Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich.

Brazil, meanwhile, plans to utilize stadiums used for the 2014 men’s World Cup, with ticket prices estimated between USD 17 and USD 84. They project a total ticket revenue of USD 57.4 million, along with USD 29.5 million in hospitality revenue.

The US previously hosted the Women’s World Cup in 1999 and 2003, with the 1999 tournament drawing an impressive 1.2 million fans. This history, coupled with the economic potential of the joint US-Mexico bid, makes them a formidable contender.

FIFA is set to inspect the proposed sites in February, followed by a vote by the FIFA Congress in May to determine the 2027 Women’s World Cup host. With three strong bids on the table, the competition is fierce, and the world awaits to see who will ultimately take home the honor.
