Arsenal are expected to make the signing of goalkeeper David Raya from Brentford permanent. The Gunners brought Raya in last summer on a loan deal with a view to making it permanent a year later, and they will now pay £27 million to sign the Spanish custodian. Raya has already agreed to a long-term contract with Arsenal, which will be made official once the clause is triggered.

Raya, who has been capped three times by Spain, has made eight starts for Arsenal in the Premier League in 2023-24 and 12 across all competitions. The Spaniard has replaced regular first-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in goal for the club.

Ramsdale’s father recently spoke out about his son’s exclusion from the first team, saying that he and his family were not told about the decision. He also said that Raya was not a significant upgrade on Ramsdale.

Despite this, it seems that Arsenal are keen to keep Raya on a permanent basis. The Gunners are expected to make the signing official in the coming days.
